Working a trade show like the NASGW Expo, one hears all sorts of interesting rumors. Â One of the ones floating around is that Diamondback is going to introduce a new, larger pistol in 2013.
The new Diamondback pistol will be a double-stack, polymer pistol chambered in 9mm, .40 S&W and .45 ACP. Â I’ve been told the gun will have a different action than the current DB380 and DB9 handguns. Â It is said the new gun will be striker fired.
One of the interesting things I am hearing is that the new Diamondback pistols will interchange with many Glock holsters and accessories. Â Assuming the company navigates around any trademark and patent issues, this would be a big benefit to the company and consumer, as there would not need to be a ramp up period for popular products to be fitted for the new gun.
I spoke with the Diamondback reps yesterday about their DB9 and DB15 lines. Â They said that they have been very busy with plenty of orders to keep them busy. Â With a positive cash flow, it would be easy to see how a smaller company would want to invest back into their product line to expand their market share.
The information I have is pretty solid, but I wish to stress that it is a rumor only (at this point). Â We will see what we see at the 2013 SHOT Show.
Update: The pistol was finally announced in March of 2014. See the DB FS Nine here.

I’ll go out on a limb here and say that I really like the sound of this new gun. We need more reliable, inexpensive pistols on the market. Not all of us can afford a $600 Glock or $1000 SIG.
You can get a Glock for about $500 and a SIG for $800. If you are willing to buy used, you can get a Glock for $400. Buy a good gun and don’t worry about some new POS that might roll out.
I don’t know – I heard a few odd things about the original 380 pistol, but I’ve also heard a lot of good things about the 9mm version.
If the gun brings something new to the table and is reliable, I welcome it. But we don’t need more junk like that Kel Tec crap.
[…] I am also still hearing rumors about the full size Diamondback pistol. […]
[…] I suspect that with orders for AR-15 rifles and existing pistols rolling in, Diamondback decided to focus on getting existing products out the door rather than tooling up for a new line. Â If so, we could see the new gun in January. Â Read more on the gun in my article here. […]
