After launching the single-shot .410/.45 Colt pistol and so-called Pocket AR, Heizer Defense is expanding their line of tiny break-action handguns to include two new rifle calibers.
According to several dealers, Heizer will introduce guns called “Pocket Sniper” and “Pocket AK” in 2015. The names suggest the calibers they will be chambered in.
Let’s take a look…
Pocket AK
The Pocket AK, or PAK, will be a one-shot handgun chambered for the 7.62×39 round. While matte black may be the more popular choice, the gun will also be available in a stainless steel finish. Both versions will carry the same MSRP.
Heizer is putting a suggested retail price of $429 on the Pocket AK. Actual prices at your dealer will vary.
(Update: March 2015 – It looks like Heizer will introduce the PAK1 at the 2015 NRA show. Stand by for the photos of the new gun from the show.)
Pocket Sniper
If you would like a compact pistol that can fire a single .308 Win round, look no further. The Pocket Sniper (PS308) will be a one-round shooter chambered for the .30 caliber rifle round.
It will also be available in both a matte black and stainless steel finish. The MSRP for the Pocket Sniper will be $449.
While some may question why would a gun be made to fire only a single round of .308, I would question the sanity of anyone wanting to fire more than one round.
Detailed specs on these guns are not available yet. However, the company’s Pocket AR, or PAR, weighs about 23 ounces and is has an overall length of less than 6.5″. Heizer does not list a barrel length for the Pocket AR, but I can confidently say it is less than the optimal length for maximizing velocity and long-range accuracy.
Defensive Uses?
I’m not about to tell a company they should not produce a firearm. However, I would caution against buying one of these for self-defense. There are a lot of drawbacks to these guns from a defensive use standpoint. Unfortunately, I think that most people who would consider one of these as a concealed carry pistol have not gone through any realistic training.
If you are someone who likes to collect novelty guns or shoot unusual pistols, go for it. However, if you need a self-defense tool, get training from a quality instructor before dropping any money on one of these.

I finally saw one of these Helzer pistols at my local gunshop. There is nothing tiny about them. They appear to be as big as or even bigger than a KelTec PF9 in some dimensions.
Since it’s not more compact or concealable and holds far less ammo, they are (in my opinion) pointless. Chambering them in rifle calibers only makes them more stupider.
But stupider is not a word…. Everything else I agree with.
I have a Bond Arms Snake Slayer chambered for 410 and 45 long colt
I will stick with that
I’m holding out for the .50 BMG version.
