A new Hornady reloading manual was just announced and will be available on December 1. I’m expecting that the 11th Edition Hornady Handbook of Cartridge Reloading will be an worthy successor in a line of excellent handloading books from the company.
I bought my first manual (actually, it was a two volume set) back in the mid- to late-90’s and I used it to both develop loads and just learn about cartridges. When I purchased the set, I was only loading for the .38 Special. Since then, I’ve added a few more calibers, but the Hornady manuals are still a staple on my bookshelf.
The 9th Edition has more than 1,000 pages of load data and general cartridge information. As you would expect, the manual covers specific load recipes for all of Hornady’s bullets including the newer A-Tip, ELD-X, ELD-Match, FTX, GMX, NTX and MonoFlex lines.
A slew of new cartridges have been added, and plenty of new loads for other cartridges are also included. New cartridges include the 6mm ARC, 300 PRC, 350 Legend, .416 Barrett, .327 Federal Magnum and the .17 Hornet. There are new loads listed for the .300 AAC Blackout (which I think they list under the .300 Whisper).
Let’s face it: the Hornady reloading manuals are some of the absolute best on the market. Yes, I have others. Yes, those others are good. However, when I need the absolutely correct information, I go to Hornady every time.
Any time I have other manuals that are in conflict, I rely on the big red H to give me the right details. Why trust your loads to anything else?
I don’t know that I -need- the new Hornady reloading manual, but I am going to buy it just the same. Glancing over at the shelf, it appears I missed the 8th Edition (or did I loan it out…?). Regardless, the 11th will join my many other reference books.

Will this manual have the load data 280 Remington Improved and the 257 Roberts Improved listed in it? My old 3rd edition had load data for both calibers.
