WMD Guns of Stuart, Florida is now offering “The Beast†to the AR-15 market. Known for their Nickel Boron coated parts and accessories, The Beast will be chambered in 5.56mm/.223. The Nickel Boron (NiB-X) coating on nearly every major component should catch the shooter’s eye. The barrel is coated in Nickel Boron, which WMD claims assist the rifle in heat dissipation.
The Beast is an impressive looking rifle, if you don’t mind the shiny look on a rifle. Here are items coated in Nickel Boron:

- 16†match-grade barrel with 1:7 twist

The Beast uses a low-profile gas block for operation, with a nitrided bore to help maintain accuracy through heavy shooting. A Tac-Grip “Muscle Comp†caps the barrel, with a claimed 40% reduction in muzzle climb and recoil, and other than the picatinny rails is the only black metal part on the rifle.
The bolt carrier group has received additional attention as well. The bolt is Carpenter 158 case hardened, spot peened, and magnetic particle inspected. Made to government specs WMD claims the bolt is 40% more wear-resistant than chrome. The extractor, firing pin, cam pin, and hammer are heat-treated and hardened. The extractor has a black extractor buffer and heavy duty spring. The carrier is a heavyweight M16 style carrier, 8620 material, heat-treated and case-hardened. The gas key is attached using grade 8 hardened fasteners and is staked according to USGI specs.
WMD uses a Magpul MOE 5-point adjustable stock, and a standard AR-15 pistol grip to complete the package. WMD also offers The Beast in chassis form, with all of the above features just minus the stock, pistol grip, handguard, and muzzle break. The chassis is available in 5.56/.223 or .300 BLK, but other calibers are optional by special order.
