Well the new rimfire cartridge is here and it is a smoking hot round: the .17 Winchester Super Magnum. The new rimfire promises “pinpoint accuracy” and the “downrange performance of a centerfire cartridge.”
Ok, let’s cut to the chase: the new Winchester cartridge is pushing a 20 grain bullet at 3,000 fps. That is an amazing feat for a rimfire. Energy measures right at 400 ft-lbs (399.6 if my math is correct.) A 25 grain bullet screams along at 2,600 fps for 375 ft-lbs of energy.
I recently published a teaser ad that suggested a cooperative effort between Detroit Gun Works, Blackhawk! and Kroll International. I speculated that Detroit Gun Works would be building an AR-style rifle. Well, it now looks like Detroit Gun Works will not be at the SHOT Show and may not be making any products with their brand on it in the near future.
In a statement published on their website, Detroit Gun Works stated they will not be at the 2013 SHOT Show, and they will not be making lowers or rifles with the company name on them.
Less that 30 days away, the SHOT Show rumors are starting to fly. Â Some are more credible than others, but only time will tell which prove to be correct.
Winchester Repeating Arms is supposed to be introducing new versions of the Super X Pump (SXP) shotguns including a rugged marine version. I would expect the Marine Defender to be a salt-water resistant version of the SXP Defender with an 18″ barrel and 5+1 capacity.
A “go bag” is typically a pack or bag that is loaded with the essentials someone might need to survive if they have to leave where they are in a hurry. I differentiate the go bag from the bug out bag, considering the bug out bag to have more supplies to better sustain me for several days, while the go bag is to get me out of the immediate situation.
