Caracal’s New Product Line

Caracal

Caracal appears to have shaken up the entire product line.  Some guns are out, while other new guns are now being shown.  Here is a quick break down of all of the changes, along with links to detailed information on each of the new guns.

In the handgun category, the old “F” and “C” pistols appear to have changed names, and the addition of a sub-compact pistol to the line has appeared.  They are the CP660 (full size), CP661 (compact) and CP662 (subcompact) pistols.  All three of these guns are chambered in the 9mm.

Springfield Armory XDS Recall

Springfield XDS 9mm review

Springfield Armory issued a recall on XDS 9mm and XDS .45 ACP pistols.  The recall was issued due to a problem that:

…under exceptionally rare circumstances, some 3.3 XD-Sâ„¢ 9mm and .45ACP caliber pistols could experience an unintended discharge during the loading process when the slide is released, or could experience a double-fire when the trigger is pulled once.

Springfield Armory stressed no one has been injured by this problem and that the recall was voluntarily initiated by the company.

Hoppe’s Pistol Cleaning Kit Review

For a new shooter, buying a complete gun cleaning kit makes a lot of sense. Assembled into one package are all of the components he or she might need to clean and maintain that new firearm.

Long-time shooters will often assemble larger kits filled with specialized tools, jags and brushes. But for someone starting out, all of the extras can be a little overwhelming. So, I decided to do a pistol cleaning kit review to see exactly what a new shooter might find, and if the kits are complete.

Will Colt Abandon Florida Manufacturing Facility?

When Colt’s Manufacturing Company signed a deal in 2011 with Osceola County, FL to open a “regional headquarters and product manufacturing center,” it was reported the company would employ more than 60 people at that site.  But, more than halfway through 2013, the facility still stands empty.

According to news reports, Colt’s Manufacturing has yet to take possession of the facility and it appears that none of those promised jobs have materialized.  With an end-of-the-year deadline looming in the contract between Colt and Osceola County, it is being reported that Colt’s lender, not the company, is working out an agreement to get things back on track.

What is going on?  Will Colt ultimately abandon the deal?
