Convertible Taurus 85

Taurus was showing a new convertible revolver at the 2015 SHOT Show. The new version of the classic Model 85 has a thumb spur that (intentionally) twists on and off. The concept, as explained to me by a Taurus rep, is the revolver can be made “hammerless” for concealed carry but revert back to a standard spurred gun when at the range.

But does this really make sense from a self-defense perspective? Here’s my take…

ProMag Rollermag

ProMag introduced a new magazine called the Rollermag. Designed for the AR-15 pattern firearms, these new magazines use followers with wheels to provide a very smooth, anti-tilt follower.

It is a new design, and while I do have some concerns, the samples on the show floor were impressive.

Armscor 22 TCM 9R – Glock Conversion Kit

Armscor gave the media a sneak peek at the new 22 TCM 9R: a conversion kit for the Glock 17/22 pistols. The new kit converts the pistols to fire the .22 TCM 9R cartridge.

The kits are still under development, but are far enough along for Armscor to allow writers to shoot a Glock equipped with one. [Ed. note: The kits have been released and appear to be running very reliably in Glock-pattern pistols. Scroll down for the updated information.]

Hornady Rapid Safe Review

Freedom is balanced by responsibility. Nowhere is this more obvious than within the firearms community. Gun owners learn safety rules and they are rigorously enforced by range officers and fellow shooters alike.

Securing firearms when not in use is a responsibility that most gun owners take very seriously. Even so, there is the occasional, well-publicized tragedy where a child obtains a firearm and an innocent is harmed or killed.
