Glock Rear Sight Rail

Glock Rear Sight Rail

Strike Industries is developing a rear sight rail for Glock pistols so you can add a red dot or other optic to your Austrianhandgun without having to do any machine work on your pistol’s slide.

Right now, Strike Industries has not published a lot of information on the rail, but it would appear to be a short Picatinny rail that mounts to the Glock by use of the normal rear sight dovetail.  This should mean that a shooter could merely tap out the factory sight and install this rail.  He or she could then drop the optic of choice onto the rail.

Pink Lasers

Pink crimson traceCrimson Trace is making pink versions of their lasers for the Smith & Wesson J-frame and the Ruger LCP.  According to Crimson Trace, these pink lasers are part of the “…ever-growing number of products aimed squarely at the female market…”  Crimson Trace stated they had customers asking for their products in colors other than black, and some female customers specifically requested pink.

While I have no doubt that pink was requested by some women, I have to wonder about the stereotypical choice of pink matched to small guns that I have seen many ignorant men push onto women as a self-defense gun.  I’m sure you’ve heard the “Little gun for the little lady” BS before.  I know I have seen it more times than I care to recall.

Maybe the marketing research done by Crimson Trace supports the decision to offer pink on just these two pistols.

LaserLyte Side Mount Laser for Ruger LC9

LaserLyte Ruger LC9 LaserLaserLyte recently announced a new side mount laser for the Ruger LC9 handgun.  The laser unit is designed for easy installation and to fit in the majority of existing holsters.

The LaserLyte side mount laser is a red laser (650 nm) operating at 5 mW, which is typical for handgun lasers.  Green lasers, which tend to be more visible in daylight conditions, are frequently much more expensive than red lasers.

The LaserLyte operates on four 377 “button” batteries.  The batteries are supposed to operate for up to five hours if left on constantly.  According to the company, batteries are included.

Quick Sighting: A Fast Way to Sight in Your Rifle

So it’s early November and all over the country hunters are in the fields stalking that buck of a lifetime. The cool air has arrived, leaves are falling, and some areas of the country already have snow. Rifle season has already begun in some areas, and in others the opening of the rifle season is fast approaching.

One of the most important things a hunter or sport shooter must do is make sure that their rifle is zeroed. The need for zeroing goes for shooters using iron sights, scopes or other optics. Iron sights and red dot optics are their own animals, so I want to focus in on shooters using scoped rifles.

Something I realized recently is that many shooters aren’t aware of the easiest and quickest way to zero in their scoped rifle. Particularly if you have just had the scope mounted to that rifle. Some people think that having a rifle “bore” sighted is sufficient to make the rifle shoot on target.

LaserLyte laser for Taurus Judge, other revolvers

LaserLyte announced a “side mount” laser for the Taurus and Smith & Wesson line of revolvers, including the incredibly popular Taurus Judge.  The Taurus Judge is a line of medium to large revolvers that fire both .45 Colt cartridges and .410 bore shot shells (and slugs.)  This is the first time anyone has developed this kind of  side mount laser for the Judge handguns.

LaserLte says the Side Mount Laser (SML) is easily mounted underneath the rubber grip of the revolver and allows the shooter to retain the factory or custom grips, and use the same holster as an unmodified gun.  The included photos show where the laser unit mounts on the revolvers.
