Weatherby Vanguard Back Country Rifles

Weatherby Back Country

Weatherby announced they will be producing the new Vanguard 2 Back Country rifles in 2013.  The Back Country rifles feature many of the same features found in other Weatherby rifles, but the guns are designed with an eye toward reliability in rugged, off-the-beaten-path areas.

First of all, the rifles are lightweight, coming in at just 6.75 pounds.  This is critical for anyone who has to carry their gun over long distances, especially in rugged regions with significant elevation changes.

Weatherby Stock

The Back Country’s stock is synthetic with spiderweb accents.  The stock is pillar bedded and in the Monte Carlo form.  The butt end of the stock is topped by a Pachmayr Decelerator pad to assist with absorbing recoil.

Diamondback DB15

Diamondback DB15

I’ve got more information (and photos) of the new Diamondback DB15 rifles I first mentioned last month.  After seeing them in the databases of a major gun dealer, I knew they were real, but I just didn’t have photos to share.  That’s all changed now that Diamondback posted their pretty new AR’s online.

A variety of models are, or will be, available.  Variations include different colors, handguards, sights and stocks.  As can be seen in these photos, they will offer everything from a plain-Jane black M4-style rifle to a Magpul-equipped gun to a flat dark earth colored gun with a free float handguard.

MasterPiece Arms 5.7×28 SBR

MPA 5.7x28 SBR

MasterPiece Arms is now making a short barrel rifle (SBR) version of their 5.7×28 gun.  The new SBR has a threaded 8″ barrel for the included muzzle brake, or for the MPA Suppressor (which is shown in these photos but does not come with the gun).  Yes, all NFA rules do apply.

The MPA57SST-SBR (aka MasterPiece Arms 5.7×28 SBR) comes outfitted with an MPA short aluminum quadrail and a Strike Industries foregrip.  Based on the photos, the foregrip appears to be the “Cobra Tactical” that normally retails for $25.

Saiga-9 Carbine

Saiga-9
This is the Vityaz-SN, the SMG on which the new Saiga-9 is modeled.

Russian arms manufacturer JSC Izhmash is gearing up to produce the Saiga-9 carbine, a civilian version of the Vityaz-SN submachine gun.  The new Saiga-9 will be chambered in 9mm (aka 9×19).

The new carbine was introduced at the 2012 Russian Hunting and Sporting Goods show in September.  Currently, I don’t have much information on the Saiga-9, other than it is the “civil equivalent” of the SMG.

Below is a video of the Vityaz-SN in action.  Expect that the Saiga-9 will look similar (with a longer barrel no doubt), but will lack the automatic fire.
