Ruger LC380

Welcome the Ruger LC380, a merging the popular LCP and LC9 platforms.

Ruger is introducing a new .380 ACP chambered pistol in the same form factor as the LC9 handgun. The key benefit is less recoil than the 9mm version of the gun.

Many of the specs are the same or similar to the LC9. Width is 0.9″ for both and the weight is only slightly heavier (17.2 ounces for the LC380 and 17.1 ounces for the LC9). Magazine capacity, seven rounds, is the same.

Ruger SR45

The Ruger SR45 is now a reality. Just days ahead of the 2013 SHOT Show, Sturm, Ruger & Co announced the big bore addition to the company’s popular “SR” series of handguns.

Chambered in .45 ACP, the new SR45 comes standard with 10-round magazines, giving the shooter a lot of firepower. Yet, Ruger claims the SR45 remains a relatively thin pistol like the SR9 and SR40. According to the specs, the SR45 is 1.27″ wide, which is just 0.07″ wider than a Smith & Wesson M&P. The grip width is not specifically mentioned for the SR45.

.17 Winchester Super Magnum: 3,000 FPS Rimfire

Well the new rimfire cartridge is here and it is a smoking hot round: the .17 Winchester Super Magnum. The new rimfire promises “pinpoint accuracy” and the “downrange performance of a centerfire cartridge.”

Ok, let’s cut to the chase: the new Winchester cartridge is pushing a 20 grain bullet at 3,000 fps. That is an amazing feat for a rimfire. Energy measures right at 400 ft-lbs (399.6 if my math is correct.) A 25 grain bullet screams along at 2,600 fps for 375 ft-lbs of energy.

Detroit Gun Works – Direction Change; Won’t Be At SHOT

I recently published a teaser ad that suggested a cooperative effort between Detroit Gun Works, Blackhawk! and Kroll International. I speculated that Detroit Gun Works would be building an AR-style rifle. Well, it now looks like Detroit Gun Works will not be at the SHOT Show and may not be making any products with their brand on it in the near future.

In a statement published on their website, Detroit Gun Works stated they will not be at the 2013 SHOT Show, and they will not be making lowers or rifles with the company name on them.

SHOT Show Rumors

Less that 30 days away, the SHOT Show rumors are starting to fly.  Some are more credible than others, but only time will tell which prove to be correct.

Winchester Repeating Arms is supposed to be introducing new versions of the Super X Pump (SXP) shotguns including a rugged marine version. I would expect the Marine Defender to be a salt-water resistant version of the SXP Defender with an 18″ barrel and 5+1 capacity.
