TAPCO AR-15 Magazine
TAPCO AR-15 Magazine

Days before the NASGW Expo, news is starting to move at a much faster pace including announcements of new guns, shooting gear and even corporate acquisitions.  Here are a few of the things that are leaking out ahead of this week’s show.

Remington Arms acquires TAPCO

The Remington Arms Company picked up gun accessory maker TAPCO, expanding the company’s reach throughout the shooting market.  TAPCO manufactures a wide range of firearm parts, mainly for rifles.  I know a lot of people that have relied on their replacement AK and SKS parts to ensure 922r compliance.

CZ Skorpion Discontinued

It looks like the CZ VZ61 Skorpion pistol has been discontinued.  I’m not sure when this was announced, but the semi-auto version of the famous submachine gun was discontinued from the CZ line earlier this year.

The US market Skorpion was chambered for the .32 ACP, and to qualify as a handgun (as opposed to the “short barrel rifle” designation), it did not come with a folding stock.  The original Skorpion was developed more than 50 years ago, and it is a bit sad to see the US-version fall from the catalog.

The VZ61 Skorpion can still be had (for now), but stocks are sure to dwindle.

CZ P-07 Tactical Prototype Pistol

cz_p07_tan_01

At the 2010 SHOT Show, CZ showed a concept pistol that the company may begin selling later this year.  The pistol is a tactical version of the P-07 Duty pistol that is, as yet, not named.  (Ed. note:  Scroll down to the update for more information on this pistol.)

The pistol is chambered in 9mm, and will feature a threaded barrel for the addition of a sound suppressor.  Suppressed models will have elevated sights.  The new P-07 has a tan polymer frame, but other colors (OD, foliage green, flat dark earth, scorched earth, etc.) may be offered.

CZ USA VZ 58 Rifles

In 2008, CZ-USA started importation of the semi-automatic SA Vz 58 rifle. While the gun’s appearance gives it a look similar to the AK-47, the gun is not a clone of the famous Kalashnikov rifle.

Let’s take a look at what the VZ 58 is and the CZ-USA variant.
