SIG P238 Tribal

The SIG P238 Tribal is just one of the new variations of existing guns that SIG Sauer showed at the SHOT Show this year. Generally, the company will roll out several variations of their popular guns at the show, with some of them becoming permanent additions to the line, while others become limited runs. The P238 line has seen quite a few variations during the past few years.

The P238 Tribal is little different from the standard pistol in function and size. The gun is still a single-action, subcompact handgun chambered for the .380 ACP cartridge. It has a 2.7″ barrel length and weighs only 15.2 ounces (unloaded and without a magazine.)

New Saiga-12 Shotgun

Izhmash announced the development of a new Saiga-12 shotgun variant for practical shooting competition.  Saiga-12 fans will likely notice a few differences just from the photo:

Saiga-12

My Russian is not very good, but from what I was able to determine, the new Saiga-12 sports several new features, including:

  • long Picatinny rail on top of the receiver for optics
  • a new muzzle brake
  • compatibility with AR-style buttstocks
  • a new “push button” type magazine release
  • a flared magazine well
  • some type of integral hook on the magazines for carrying on the belt in competitions
  • reworked gas system
  • longer forearm

NEMO Omen .300 Win Mag AR

Another “New to the NRA” item that caught my eye is the .300 Win Mag AR platform rifle by NEMO. In recent months the AR-platform has seen an explosion of offerings in the .30 caliber area, especially in the hot new .300 AAC BLK cartridge. NEMO is making a bold step into the arena and going for gold with the extremely powerful .300 Win Mag chambering found in their Omen rifle.

Nemo 300 Win Mag

NEMO is a relative newcomer to the AR arena, but in looking this rifle over it appears that the designers and engineers are serious about quality firearms. NEMO stands for New Evolution Military Ordinance. The Omen, or Magnum Assault Rifle has taken several years in research and development to produce, but the wait sure seems to be worth it. The rifle was designed as an “advanced weapon solution” for military special operations, and federal law enforcement.

NEMO Arms was co-founded by retired U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Paul Vallely, Clint Walker and Kirk Leopold in a partnership with Sonju Industrial. Not only that, the NEMO squad includes Spec Ops operators and engineers as a part of their development team.

Kahr CM40

Kahr CM40
The Kahr CM40 is a value-priced, concealed carry gun.

Introducing the Kahr CM40: a compact, and affordable, new pistol chambered in .40 S&W.  According to Kahr, the CM40 is an extension of the CM-series of pistols that was introduced in 2011.

The Kahr CM40 has a 3″ barrel and weighs less than 18 ounces with the magazine.  The pistols are thin:  only 0.94″ wide.

The magazines have flush fitting floorplates, and hold five rounds for a total capacity of six.  I would expect that Kahr will introduce an extended magazine that will hold six rounds (for a total of seven) later in the year, but that is pure speculation on my part.

The sights use the dot/bar configuration and are large enough for real use.
